Planting Seeds = New Endeavors
It is a beautiful Sunday with the birds chirping and now a hot cup of coffee in my hand. The past week like previous ones was very busy but good progress was made in moving ahead. It was nice to spend time at home working on the yard/office and taking some great meetings. Today is exciting because we’re putting the garden in today. I’m also excited that one of our new apple trees that gave us two (2) apples last year is now LOADED. So that could mean hard cider. The raspberries and mulberries are also developing so more jellies and wines could be on deck. The hops have been moved and will now grow nicely up our lattice. I’ve been planting seed both literally and with new relationships and projects. Let’s look at a few.

“40 Nights” screening! Thank you to our friends at Reign. Our E.P. Rebecca Lawlor and actor Logan Kishi presented our film to a group of pastors. We ask, if you liked the film’s message and want to support this kind of content – please add “40 Nights” to your collection and post a review at movie sites (www.imdb.com) or retail sites (www.amazon.com). I’m told that five new screenings have opened up from this above showing and we have a growing list of church’s from our website we’ll be contacting. It’s a great movie to EXPERIENCE on the big screen.

Soundtrack for “40 Nights”
The soundtrack for “40 Nights” is now available to purchase on iTunes. I truly LOVE this soundtrack. It’s beautiful back ground music for any occasion.

The next soundtrack will be the dark thriller “Bestseller” which we’re targeting June 7th release with the film also releasing to iTUNES. It can be purchased online – check out http://www.bestsellerthemovie.com also foreign negotiations will start in the coming weeks.

BTS of “40 Nights” – the camp of John the Baptist
Jesse Low, our director from “40 Nights” has entered into developmental work on the next CDI feature he will direct this year. We will start putting the business together on it this June. We’re all excited to work with Jesse again and we’ll be announcing the project formerly soon.
We’ve also been in talks on a project with BlackJacket Films. They were the production team on the Tony Hornus film “Standing Post” film. I’m excited about the new opportunity here to take another great story to the screen. PreViz and concept art is being developed and the business deal is being worked out.

“Chasing the Star” – We got to spend some time in the edit suite reviewing nearly 50 minutes of the film. I also enjoyed watching the professional manner in which they conducted themselves. This film will be a wonderful follow-up to “40 Nights” and development on the third film “The Christ Slayer” is now underway.
Lot’s more happening but some are deals that are not yet done. I need to shift my focus here to working the dirt and doing some planting. So spend time with family and remember those who gave for your freedom.

Travel, iTUNES and Other Updates
What a whirlwind since Thursday. We had two people in the family circle pass on and so we drove up North on Thursday to visit family and Friday it was down south to help settle an estate. It was mainly cleaning and sorting things out. It is always interesting what we save during our lives. Hopes, dreams, fears, joys all there – dust-covered and no longer required for the journey. I wanted to get this blog done yesterday but I literally came home after a six-hour drive right to the soccer field. That was a hard-fought game whereas we won 4-3 and it was a rough and tumble battle.
Let’s talk movies and projects –

Soundtrack for “40 Nights”
“40 Nights” continues to pick up speed. Last week the powerfully moving soundtrack by Dennis Therrian was released to iTUNES. Read about it here and pick up the soundtrack. I think people will enjoy listening to it while doing things around the house or that car ride.

Speaking of iTUNES, the film itself will release there in June along with “Bestseller” (Also the next soundtrack release), and “Donors” (on there now)
DONORS (Thriller)

I will be exploring to see if “Ashes of Eden” will be joining the other new releases there.

“Chasing the Star” is about at the 40 minute rough cut and I’ll be in there again this week to see the new progress.
This week will be more development talks as we look at prepping the future films. I’m getting everything to a good place so we can move forward with new films. We’re also prepping several of the classic CDI films for a new release with their soundtracks. We might see more TV licensing also.
I hope you all have a productive week ahead! PS: Only once in a great while do I get “star struck” and this was one of those times. Look at who I met in my travels this weekend. I didn’t ask for an autograph:)

Interviews & Updates – New Week

It is a Monday morning and I’m doing my blog. On Friday morning I had cedar wood dropped. This weekend I spent the three days helping trim out the office. The windows, corners and such to keep birds, insects and such out of the domain. We saw rain, hail, snow and sunshine throughout the weekend. Yes. This is Michigan. We won our soccer match yesterday which was hard-fought and again – cold. I’m playing catch up on this blog so I can attend a meeting this morning.

“Ashes of Eden”
“Ashes of Eden” for sale!

Distribution news coming!
“Donors” for sale!

I ask you to consider adding these four films to your collection. Last week we did some additional wrap up on “Chasing the Star” which is in editing. We should be close to a rough cut by month’s end.

I’ve also been focusing on my script writing. I’m planning to sell off some of the screenplays I’ve written that I don’t plan to produce. I’m waiting to see if a sale goes through in June. If you’re looking to purchase a screenplay in a certain genre reach out to me.
More meetings including the one I have to get around for. Have a great week and work hard. Good things happen when one works hard.
Have a great week!

Taking a Few Moments in the Mountains

I’m experiencing culture shock as I’m in some ritzy hotel in Charlotte NC trying to catch up on this blog. People, people, people, people…city, cement. It was just hours ago, I was nestled deep in the mountains of Maggie Valley at a special place called Robert’s Roost. I’ve always felt a draw to mountains and the Smoky’s in particular. It was almost ten years ago that I spent so much time there prepping, filming and promoting our “Ghost Town” movie. It was wonderful to spend time with friends very near and dear to my heart. I also missed some of the souls no longer with us. Their dogs Gator and Ben, the rooster Sampson and panther-headed cat Toby have all passed. On the first night we arrived at the dinner hour and after relaxed with a bon fire and the best relaxing gifts including a peach whiskey of the white variety. The next day we traveled and explored the Blue Ridge and another night of laughter and remembrance. In my guest room filled with 1800’s treasures which included sleeping each night under the tanned hide of a buffalo blanket. They’re heavy and extremely warm, so I now understand why they were in such demand to fight the frontier cold.

My mind and spirit needed the short get away. One full year of prepping, shooting and posting “40 Nights” which released (April 5th). This film released just as we were shooting the follow-up film “Chasing the Star” – which we just put into editing. To adjust to the less hectic phase of development and post production was a welcome change. While many people highly enjoy the filming journey, which I do, it’s also when you’re on alert for any number of issues that could arise. I always breathe easier once we’re in post and things are much more controllable. I didn’t want to slow development, so upon returning from Yuma, AZ – I immediately finished the first polished draft of the third film in the Quest Trilogy entitled “The Christ Slayer” shooting spring 2017. I know that this fall could also see us in production so it was a needed pause, a reset and deep breath. PEACE.

I’m going to try to use the last few days here to catch up on some calls and communications. Our thriller “Bestseller” will start releasing to nationally retailers like Family Video and also online rental/retailers. Here’s a place where our “special edition” version can be purchased.

Melissa Anschutz and DJ Perry on set BESTSELLER
“Bestseller” showcases the wonderful talents of Mrs. Melissa Anschutz playing the lead role. People have met her recently as Dana in “Ashes of Eden” and Mother Mary in “40 Nights” and I’m so honored to have such a talented, hard-working actor/producer following in the footsteps of the other CDI tribal members over the years. So look for this exciting thriller at your favorite retailers/rental outlets!
More Links to “Bestseller” will be appearing in these coming weeks.

If thrillers are your thing “Donors” is another film one of ours that released recently. Buy it here at one of these retailers.

Stay tuned for new updates on “Chasing the Star” and several of our upcoming projects. I feel very blessed to be on this journey. I’m aware how the years move steadily forward. I’m appreciative to be working with such talented groups of artist making these life lasting stories. I’m blessed to have met so many great people in my travels. To be blessed to see so many beautiful places. I hope that people will continue to enjoy our collective storytelling. I’ve heard from many of you directly or in reviewing our films and I’m sincerely touched. Thank you. I’m going to end this blog for today and soak up a few more quiet moments in North Carolina.
Be good to one another.
